Diarmuid MacDiarmada

Diarmuid MacDiamada is a polymath from Dublin, Ireland who is never sure what hat he should be wearing. Hat is edgy in substance but melted in urges. Melvin re-ran the video. Hat flows amply to wired meat.

Diarmuid MacDiarmada has been working in and around the Dublin music scene for far too long. He has been in more bands than he cares to remember and several that he tries to forget. He founded Goppa records in 1992 releasing a number of vanity edition cassette albums and singles between 1992 and 2002 when he released the ‘Orang-utan’ compilation CD of Irish artists along with artists living in Ireland or collaborating with Irish artists. Irish residents like Nurse with Wound and Aranos featured alongside Volcano the Bear, Artificial Memory Trace and others. A couple of years of touring, session work and band politics drove Diarmuid back into his shell in 2005 where he concentrated on studying, writing, recording and also drumming for the equally eccentric band Zorilla. Diarmuid is currently studying toward a degree in theology and music.

A Note About the Recordings…

NIGHTWEAR:

Worm and Sponge (feat. Diarmuid MacDiarmada)

This epic number was abandoned at the last minute because the singer of the handpicked band refused to sing the words on principle. Rather than try to salvage the song, Worm and Sponge have chosen to release the last demo, featuring the vocal stylings of Goppa label boss Diarmuid MacDiarmada who was press-ganged into singing on a whim of the producers.

BOYHOOD IN THE SHADOW OF THE HELLFIRE CLUB:

Diarmuid MacDiarmada

When you listen to this song you can vicariously live these fake memories of Diarmuid’s youth, growing up at the foot of the Dublin mountains ‘in the shadow of the Hellfire Club’, listening to heavy metal and getting up to no good.
